One of the things I love most about taking the Pacific Surfliner train up to LA for client meetings, aside from this view, is a woman named Stephanie at the downtown San Diego Amtrak station.
She comes out to greet commuters before EVERY train that leaves that station.
“Hi folks, my name is Stephanie and I’m here to say hello, good morning, and have a wonderful day. I greet every train from 6 AM to 4 PM and I NEVER miss a train. If you need anything, other than margaritas and coffee, which I don’t have, let me know!”
She’s cheerful, genuine, and you can tell she legit loves her job. No matter how I show up to the station, relaxed or rushed, she puts me at ease. I look forward to seeing her now.
She brings the good vibes to folks who, more often than not, are a bit grumpy about their commute.
And every single person in line is smiling and having a great time after she comes out and makes her declaration.
If I can brighten someone’s day the way she does mine, I’ll be a happy camper. What a beautiful gift.
