Unicorn for hire sounds pretty ridiculous, I know. But here’s the deal: it’s taken me 30+ years to own my status as a unicorn, and as many years of developing my skills in order to make magic happen all over the place.
Ready? Let’s do this!
If you’re looking for someone to serve some #TruthJuice on the topics below via a panel discussion at your event, in an article, on a podcast, hit me up!
How We Can Jam Together
There are several ways we can work together – the sky is really the limit. Here are the things/topics I’m most passionate about:
“Sydney, are you on Facebook all day?” is a question I’ve been fielding for the better part of a decade now. And the answer is yes, yes I am. I have generated thousands and thousands of dollars in revenue for various brands, simply by facilitating Facebook groups. Turns out, people (myself included) like being part of something, being supported, and having a place to connect with like-minded folks. Tell me that’s not worth your time.
When we jam together on your copy, it’s more than me taking a look at what you’ve got and sending you feedback. We’re going to spend some quality time together so I can really get to know you, what you love, what makes you tick, and why you’re so fired up about what you’re selling.
Sydney is the only person I want for our copywriting needs. She just “gets” our brand voice and her wordsmithing helped take us to an entirely new level. Sydney is an incredible writer with a clear understanding of what endears a brand to its customers.

Unfiltered Marketing Strategy
I’ve been in the agency world, brand-side, and I’ve run marketing for my own company and clients all by my pretty little self. That combination of experience lends a unique viewpoint and a very particular set of skills. I can manage the clients, I can manage the agencies, and I can manage myself. High five for the trifecta!
NOTE: Have you ever read/watched something and wondered how on earth it got past that many people and went to print/air? Me too. At least 3x a week. Which leads me to believe that folks out there need some help from a discerning eye to make sure that their marketing materials aren’t going to be a liability. If this is you, please contact me so we can chat. This is a service I currently offer FOR FREE – because I don’t want to see you in a PR nightmare.
Unfiltered Product Launch Strategy
Launching a product is no easy task. Creating whatever you’re selling is most of the battle, but how do you bring that product or service to market? I love working with individuals/businesses from the ground up – from developing the brand, to the marketing strategy, to the actual launch of the product and beyond – and the entire process from start to finish is as close to having kids as I’ll ever get.
The picture above was from a trip I took with NCL – this Unicorn was hard at work at Sapphire Beach in St. Thomas. When we work together, I provide ’round-the-clock real-time updates (internet connection permitting) through multiple platforms, and generate massive results for your brand across several timezones. I am available for sponsored trips, social media takeovers, guest posting, and brand advocacy.
We thought our social program was robust until Sydney came along. Very quickly and efficiently, we were able to raise the social footprint of our luxury cruise travel clients by 30 to 45%, literally overnight. On a 10-day at-sea event for Azamara Club Cruises, we generated more than 48 million impressions on a variety of social platforms. Sydney’s direct and to-the-point demeanor made quick work of efficiently increasing results, which were quickly converted to sales.
For the majority of her career, Sydney Williams has been trying to find a box to fit in. Her career path is not a straight line, and over the past 12 years, she’s spent time diving deep into various industries and connecting the dots between them.
“Born and raised” at Weber Shandwick in Chicago, Sydney was set up for communications success with an incredible career foundation at one of the largest global PR/Marketing agencies.
At Weber Shandwick, Sydney cut her teeth as a digital marketer as the voice of the Wienermobile on Twitter, and helped Oscar Mayer to launch their digital portfolio. Working with the Cherry Marketing Institute, Sydney helped drive awareness for the nutritional and physical benefits of tart cherries by establishing brand presence at Rock N Roll Marathon Expos, a prime-time target for a customer segment that could really benefit from the juice: marathon runners.
In March 2010, Sydney was bitten by the skydiving bug. Prior to speaking at SXSW Interactive with a group of her peers on a panel about “Why Gen-Y wants to work WITH you, vs. FOR you” – she had to join an experienced skydiver for a tandem jump at a dropzone just outside of Austin.
That jump would radically change Sydney’s career trajectory.
By July 2010, Sydney was a proud USPA licensed skydiver and started to figure out how to shift her world around this new piece of her life.
A quick stint with W2O Group in Austin as an Analytics Associate would put Sydney back in the Chicago area. In 2011, she joined Chicagoland Skydiving Center as the Director of Marketing, PR, and Events. CSC was in the process of moving and building new facilities the season that Sydney worked there, and she helped create new processes and procedures that would set up CSC Marketing for success on her departure.
Since skydiving is a seasonal business in most of the country, Sydney started looking for opportunities to work in the sport year-round, and landed at Skydive Elsinore in southern California.
Working with Skydive Elsinore was a unique opportunity in that Sydney was responsible for all communications, events, and marketing for the business, and was the only person in the department. During her time with SDE, Sydney wrote/designed/executed all social content, email newsletters, advertising campaigns, event materials, managed commercial production jobs, recruited sponsored athletes and managed their teams, and was a competitor herself.
Sydney took 2015 to explore entrepreneurship and women’s empowerment. She launched a skydiving event planning company called Planet Green Socks, which successfully executed three skydiving skills camps and wrapped up with Sydney planning a memorial for her dear friend Adam, who had passed away in 2014 during a BASE jumping trip.
In late 2015, Sydney reconnected with W2O Group, this time as an account director, where she would lead the go-to-market strategy and launch for Velv, a wine oxygenator. She also led teams as the day-to-day account lead for Comcast California, NBC Digital Entertainment’s CRM program, the Moore Foundation, a national commercial campaign for Neodyne, and several other smaller projects.
Most recently, Sydney served as Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer at From Molly With Love, an all-natural beauty brand with a strong empowerment narrative.
Now, Sydney is focusing on writing full-time, and enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, photography, improv, and long walks on any of the San Diego beaches with her husband and two puggles.
